EAA 2014 audience

Gunter Geser of Salzburg Research, Austria has written a comprehensive report on the ARIADNE “Open Access and Open Data in Archaeology” session held recently at EAA 2014 in Istanbul, Turkey.

The full day session held at the 20th Annual Meeting of the European Association of Archaeologists in Istanbul was organised and chaired by Frank Siegmund (Heinrich Heine Universität, Germany),Julian D. Richards (Archaeology Data Service, UK) and Guntram Geser (Salzburg Research, Austria).

 Presentations on various aspects and examples of Open Access and Open Data were given by colleagues from Austria, Germany, Italy, Ireland and the United Kingdom. The session, which attracted around 30 participants over the day, was divided in three parts which focused on OA journals, OA to documentation of sites,excavations and finds, and Open Data publication, including Linked Open Data. Read the full report.
